Sheila A. Kapella

November 20, 1939 - June 20, 2010

(nee Seemann) – Passed away Sunday, June 20, 2010, at Provena St. Joseph medical Center. Age 70.

Survived by her beloved daughters Julie (Christopher) Penkunas of Fort Wayne, IN., and Bernadette (Peter) Meberg of Grand Forks, ND and their father Bernie Kapella; blessed with two grandchildren Ingrid and Alena Meberg; brother William F. (Martha) Seemann of Joliet, sister-in-law Sandra Sue (Seemann; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

Preceded in death by her parents Charles A. (1967) and Julia (nee Staudacher 1982) Seemann, brother Vincent C. Seemann (2001), two nephews Charles V. (2005) and Jeffery W. (1996) Seemann.

Sheila was born November 20, 1939 in Joliet and was a lifelong resident. Graduate of Joliet Township High School.
Retired from First Midwest Bank of Plainfield, IL in 2005. Formerly employed by the City of Joliet/Community and Economics Division.

Sheila was an active genealogical volunteer at Church of Jesus Christ Ladder Day Saints and the Will County Historical Society. She was passionate about genealogy research and she devoted many years to her family’s research.

Her interests included being an avid lover of reading, flowers and gardening, her postage stamp collection and traveling.

Funeral Information

Funeral services will be held from the Carlson-Holmquist-Sayles Funeral Home, 2320 Black Rd., Thursday, June 24, 2010 at 9:30 A.M. to St. John Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00 A.M. Interment St, John Cemetery. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M.

Donations Information

In lieu of flowers memorials to the Will County Historical Society will be appreciated.
